The annual 4-H and FFA Ham, Bacon and Egg show and sale took place March 21 at the Pocahontas County Opera House. Fifty-two youth from the county showcased their many hours of hard work as they exhibited and sold 50 hams, 50 bacons and 16 dozen eggs the result of their projects in 4-H and FFA. Support from businesses in and out of the county created a sales volume of $88,980.

Cammi Warner exhibited the Grand Champion Ham which weighed 26.46 lbs. Dominion Energy purchased the ham for $1,984.50.

The Reserve Champion Ham, shown by Trey Sattler, weighing 24.52 pounds was sold to Pocahontas Veterinary Services for $4,904.

Natalie Irvine exhibited the Grand Champion Bacon which weighed 7.20 pounds and was purchased by Dari-Land for $1,152.

The Reserve Champion Bacon was exhibited by Grayson Barlow, weighing 8.72 pounds and selling for $3,052 to Pocahontas Veterinary Services.

The Grand Champion Eggs shown by Coleton Taylor sold for $500 to Dari-Land.

Noah Sharp’s Reserve Champion Eggs were purchased by Nathaniel Mason for WV Commission of Agriculture for $350. Owens Repair Service purchased the PCHS FFA Scholarship Ham weighing 25.48 lbs. for $4,331.60.

Randy and Teresa Sharp accepted the 2025 Friend of 4-H Award on behalf of Glades Building Supply.
They have supported the youth Livestock and Ham, Bacon and Egg sales consistently as buyers, helped staff 4-H camp, provided a site to hold the 4-H frozen food sale for many years, and when 4-H needed a loading dock for a donation for the county shooting sports, they volunteered theirs.
In addition to the Grand and Reserve Champions and the scholarship ham, bidders attending the auction had a chance to buy 15 Prime hams, 19 Choice hams, 13 Good hams, 11 Prime bacons, 24 Choice bacons, 13 Good bacons, 4 Grade AA eggs, 8 Grade A eggs, and 2 Grade B eggs. 4-H members selling these products included Grayson Barlow, Abby Bauserman, AJ Bauserman, Garrett Bauserman, Rileigh Bauserman, Ezra Bond, Kooper Brock, Kylor Brock, Madalynn Brock, Trenton Brock, Makiya Burns, Ryan Burns, Noah Clifton, Silas Dean, Victor Dean, Layne Dunbrack, Lincoln Dunbrack, Elizabeth Friel, Michael Friel, Tyler Friel, Leanne Green, Riley Hamons, Sienna Hamons, Levi Hill, RT Hill, Natalie Irvine, Traves Lewis, Jonah Mann, Brinley McLaughlin, Emmett McLaughlin, Amel-ia Rogers, Owen Sattler, Trey Sattler, Elliott Seldomridge, Sullivan Seldomridge, Evan Sharp, Noah Sharp, Natalie Sisler, Coleton Taylor, Kelsi Taylor, Cade Wagner, and Lane Wilfong. FFA members selling products were Jessica Armstrong (4H/FFA), Caroline Bennett, Kirsten Friel (4H/FFA), Ramona Hardy (4H/FFA), Willa Hardy, Mallori Mc-Coy, Savana Sharp (4H/ FFA), Griffen Taylor, Halleigh Teter and Cammi Warner.

Pocahontas IGA and Matt-hew Taylor provided free slicing for the sale. Pocahontas Memorial Hospital and City National Bank provided donations for project premiums to be divided equally among all participants. Brushy Flat Bushwackers 4-H Club hosted refreshments for the event including ham biscuits prepared by 4-H Agent Luci Mosesso. Biscuits and cookies were provided by Anderson Ag Services and Dr. Jennifer Rose. Southern States donated the ham. The 4-H and FFA members appreciate the continued support of the community.
