Eric Lee McAllister, 80, of Frost, died Saturday, August 9, 2025, at his home.
Born August 21, 1944, in Hanford, California, he was a son of the late Floyd Melvin McAllister and Dixie Crippen McAllister.
Mr. McAllister graduated from Annandale High School in Annandale, Virginia, and earned his HVAC Master Contractor license. He worked as a mechanical engineer in HVAC-related work until his retirement in 2010.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, building, repairing and remodeling. He worked on cars for all his children, and everyone came to him for help and answers. He loved to prove “it can be fixed.” Spending time in Pocahontas County for the past 25 years was a favorite pastime, and in 2024 Pocahontas County became his permanent residence.
On September 25, 1976, he married Joyce Ann Bell McAllister, who survives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eric McAllister, Jr.; brother-in-law, Tony Bell; and special sisters-in-law, Cheryl Bell and Karen Gray.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Melissa McAllister (Jeff), of Purcellville, Virginia, and Danielle Flourney (Darrell), of Groveland, Florida; stepsons, Stephen Baire (Karla), of St. Albans, and Mark Baire, of Frost; sister, Cheri Ellis (Steve), of Omaha, Nebraska; brother-in-law – who was a “special” brother in his life and partner in many projects – Tim Bell, of Charleston; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews who were very special to him. He enjoyed “being a young boy” again with them and he loved every minute they spent together.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Tyler Gardens at Cross Lanes.
