I’m off to the Annual Municipal League Conference. Maybe I’ll have more to say about that next week.

The Marlinton Woman’s Club is to be commended for the beautiful flowers in the Main Street planters. I will have more to say about that in the next couple of weeks.

At some point, I want to explain how the Mayor video came about. Some of you may have seen it on YouTube. It started April 9 when Bryce Plank gave me a call. He said he was coming to do a documentary about Green Bank and the Quiet Zone. He asked if he could come to Marlinton and ask a few questions. The interview turned into an unplanned video. As of Monday morning, it has recorded more than 424,000 views in a 30-day period.

I never dreamed it would take off like it did. Now, I regret the missed opportunities to say some things like; “for every building raised or built above the known floodplain level, the insured can see a reduction for each foot raised or built, above that level.”

Otherwise, I was okay with everything except the title. The title was selected by Mr. Plank.

I am the first to say, one person does not, (nor cannot) transform a community. It is all who want to make a positive difference that transforms a community.
