Editor,
As I sit here – years after billions of dollars in federal funds have been allocated for high-speed rural internet – with a slow crappy service, I wonder what the holdup is. Could the delay be related to incompetence? I doubt it, since if individuals were this incompetent they would have starved to death by now since they would not be smart enough to feed themselves. So, I am left with corporate maneuvering to maintain market share by the crappy provider and other possibly immoral conduct.
I also wonder if our tax money is being spent to draw out this process and line pockets. During World War II the SS Robert E. Peary, a liberty ship had its keel laid on November 8, 1942, and it was assembled in just four days, 15 hours and 29 minutes. So here we all sit many decades later, and it takes years to evaluate some poles and string fiber.
This is not rocket science or even ship building. May-be it’s time that our elected officials and the attorney general fix this stupidity.
If they are unwilling to do so maybe it’s time to primary all of them and get folks in office that fix obvious problems. So, it is easy to contact these individuals even with a slow internet connection or the old-fashioned phone. If many of us do this, we may see positive action; sadly, most will not and just let them take advantage of us.
