Director of Development
Hello friends.
On behalf of everyone at the Pocahontas County Libraries and Visitor Information Centers, I wanted to thank all of you for your generous donations this year. Hallie and I have been overwhelmed by the support you’ve shown for our libraries.
A significant portion of our funding comes from donations from individuals and businesses.
It’s an especially important source of funding, as well.
The grants available for libraries are usually restricted to funding specific projects. So, if we need a new roof or an updated HVAC system, we can apply for grants that cover much of those costs. The same is true for specific programs, like our Summer Reading Program.
But those grants don’t fund things like paying the electric bill or buying new books to put on the shelves.
For those basic operational costs, we rely on tax funds from the County and donations from individuals.
We are grateful to the County Commission for its commitment to funding a vibrant library system. And we are grateful to the many residents—both present and past—who donate both time and money toward keeping our libraries running.
Hallie and I are humbled by your generosity and grateful for your ongoing support.
