Violet Nellerine Waddell, 98, of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at her residence.
Born October 29, 1926, at Bartow, she was a daughter of the late Phadeus and Ethel Lambert Thompson.
Violet was a homemaker and loved to attend church. She loved her home and enjoyed canning, cooking and baking homemade bread.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Kent Waddell; two daughters, Susan Vickers and Kathy Waddell; two sons, Daniel and Rocky Waddell; sisters, Ausifean “Mary” Rexrode, Marie Hedrick, Mabel Warner, and Macel Thompson; brothers, Algie “Bud” Thompson and Opie “Buck” Thompson; half-brothers, Carlos, Marvin, Doyle and Branson Thompson.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Spring and Daisy Bacorn, both of Elkins; son, Jarvey Wayne Waddell, and wife, Patricia, of Brandywine; brothers, Kennison “Jake” Thompson and Woodrow “Woody” Thompson, and wife, Lillian, all of Marlinton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Monday, January 20, 2025, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel in Arbovale, with Speaker Susie Lambert officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
