The chilly temperature didn’t freeze the Christmas spirit in Marlinton Friday night when the annual Christmas Parade made its way through Main Street. A large number of floats showed off the creativity and holiday cheer of local businesses and organizations, including, clockwise from above: Pocahontas County Day Report’s gingerbread house and sweets theme; the Little Levels 4-H homemade Polar Express train; and Hillsboro Elementary School’s version of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – complete with the Griswald family station wagon. The parade ended with a special appearance by Santa Claus, who hitched a ride with the Marlinton Fire Department before he met with children at Discovery Junction. S. Stewart photos
