The West Virginia High School Rodeo Association came to Marlinton Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3, and Mya Workman, of Hillsboro, along with 70 other West Virginia contestants competed in numerous events.
Mya, a senior was at Pocahontas County High School, finished in the top five in barrels and pole bending and won the breakaway event on Sunday.
Mya is working toward qualifying for the National High School Finals Rodeo which will be held in Rock Springs Wyoming, in July 2025.
She will compete all year at several high school rodeos in West Virginia and other states, and plans to attend college and compete in college rodeo beginning next fall.
