The Pocahontas County High School Warriors exterminated the Moorefield Yellow Jackets Friday night at home by a score of 22-0.

The Warriors brought their A game to the field and, ignoring the cold, drizzling rain, showed great skill as a team.

Logan Dilley rushed for a touchdown early on in the game, and Shane Peacock added two TDs in the third period.

Briar Wilfong and Dillon Shinaberry added two 2-point conversions to the final score.

“I am very proud of our effort in all three phases of the game,” Coach Doug Burns said. “We had to overcome the weather conditions Friday night against a good team, so I think that speaks to the character of this team.

“I thought our offensive line did a good job of making adjustments and getting the job done against their defense. This allowed Shane Peacock to have over 200 yards and two touchdowns.

“Our defense played solid all night. Anytime you can shut out a team like Moorefield, it’s quite an accomplishment. We have another big game and challenge coming up this Friday with Pendleton County. I hope we have a lot of fans at the game. That goes a long way in getting our guys fired up and ready to play.”

The Warriors are scheduled to take on the Pendleton County Wildcats this Friday in their third in a row home game.
Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
