The Pocahontas County High School Lady Warriors went up against Braxton County last Monday in the sectional quarterfinals.

The Lady Warriors were behind 2-0 at half-time, but came back to tie the score 2-2. Although they out-scored their opponents 3-2 in the second half, the Lady Warriors came up short and lost the match 4-3. The Lady Warriors had 25 shots on goal, three of which resulted in goals scored. Braxton County had 23 shots on goal, four of which resulted in goals scored.

Scorers were sophomore forwards Alexa Taylor with one goal, Kira Bircher with one goal, and Laila Calhoun with one goal.
Assists on these goals were from junior Marlee McLaughlin and sophomore Elizabeth Hefner. Additional shots on goal were from freshman Savannah McMillion, senior Catlyn Sparks, Hefner, and McLaughlin.

Defenders and midfielders junior Brianna Hefner, sophomores Emily Casto, Amelia Rose and Sparks cleared the ball out of the backfield 39 times and along with sophomores Sage McLaughlin and Hefner made a total of 38 throw-ins.

Junior goalkeeper Kayla Sharp saved 11 goals and allowed four.

The Lady Warriors ended their season with a record of five wins, two ties, and seven losses.

Head coach Shannon Arbogast and assistant coach Allen Taylor are both proud of how hard the team played this season.
