PCHS teacher arrested for sexual assault
On Tuesday, April 8, Corporal M.A. Agee, of the Marlinton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, arrested Ms. Sammantha Bartley, of Marlinton, 25 years of age, for three counts of sexual assault by a guardian. These charges stem from a complaint from a former Pocahontas County High School student. The victim claims that as a student in 2013, he engaged in sexual relations with Ms. Bartley, who was employed as a teacher at the school. The victim was a juvenile at the time of the alleged sexual relationship. An investigation by Corporal Agee developed probable cause to arrest Ms. Bartley. She was arraigned in Pocahontas County Magistrate Court.
Bartley has been placed on administrative leave from her employment with the Pocahontas County Board of Education.
